ARTICLE IX
Section 1 - Starting Date
1.1 The dates for the first day of practice, first scrimmage, first game and last game are determined by the Section.
Section 2 - Official Rules
2.1 The official rule book shall be the United State Tennis Association Rule Book.
Section 3 - Official Ball
3.1 Any hard court USTA approved ball.
3.2 Game balls will be provided by the home team.
Section 4 - Contacts
4.1 The number of contacts are determined by the Section.
4.3 Scrimmages held after the first game shall be counted as a contact.
Section 5 - Match Times
5.1 During Standard Time - 3:30
During Day Light Saving Time - 4:00
>Section 6 - Match Results
6.1 The winning school shall be responsible to notify the media with game results.
Section 7 - Championship
7.1 The league champion shall be determined by dual match competition.
7.2 In the event of a tie, multiple champions shall be declared and duplicate awards presented to each school tied.
Section 8 - Section Playoffs
8.1 The number of teams and individuals qualifying for participation in the Section Playoffs shall be determined by the Section.

8.3 To determine qualifer
8.3.1. The team with the best head to head record shall advance to the section playoffs.8.3.2 If head to head competition does not break the tie, a match will be played at a neutral site. The winner shall advance to the playoffs.8.3.2.1 If a neutral site can not be arranged, a coin flip will decide the home team.
8.3.3 In the event of multiple ties which can not be broken by head to head competition the team with the greatest number of individual matches won will advance.
8.3.4 The final tie breaker will be a coin flip
Section 9 - Rain Outs and Suspended Matches
9.1 The home team will cancel matches by 12:00 Noon, or as soon as possible in the case of inclement weather.
9.2 By mutual consent of both coaches, a game a game may be suspended due to darkness or inclement weather.9.2.1 The scores, the server and the sides must be recorded. When play continues it begins at the point it was suspended.9.2.2 Should an athlete become injured or academically ineligible for the make up, that match will be forfeited. Substitutions may not be made. If both participants are not able to compete it shall be declared a double forfeit.
9.3 Postponed or suspended games shall be rescheduled by mutal consent of both coaches,.
9.4 If one team has scored five (5) points at the time that darkness or inclement weather forces the suspension of action, that team will be declared the winner of the match and the match will not be rescheduled.
9.5 When the threat of inclement weather or impending darkness is likely, and both coaches agree, a match may be decided by an eight (8) game pro set.
9.6 Saturday shall not be considered as an open day for make up purposes.
Section 10 - Dual Match Competition
10.1 Each dual meet shall consist of six singles and three doubles matches.
10.1.1 Matches shall be played with singles first followed by doubles. 10.1.2 Participants are permitted five (5) minutes of on court warm up, including serves.10.1.3 A player not ready to play in fifteen (15) minutes from the scheduled match time shall forfeit.10.2 Each school shall establish a boys and girls ladder of players in ranking order position on the ladder shall be determined by the player’s ability and the results of inter-squad challenge matches.10.2.1 Each coach shall submit a team ladder in ranking order to every other coach in the league prior to the first league match.10.2.1.1 No changes may occur during the first half unless those changes result from injury or absence, and a player may not advance more than 3 positions on the ladder.10.2.2 Failure to submit a ladder will result in forfeiture of all matches played until a ladder is submitted. 10.2.3 The number one doubles team must be better than the number two team.
10.3 If a team is short players, everyone must move up the ladder. Matches forfeited would be those at the bottom of the ladder.
10.3.1 In the absence of a singles player, all players will move up one position. It is possible to move player #13 (or lower) up to position #6, so as not to break up the doubles team. In the case of a doubles player’s absence, the coach may move all players up or, like singles, #13, into the slot. In the case of multiple absences, players should simply move up accordingly.
10.4 Team points will be awarded for each match won.
10.5 No ad scoring and a twelve (12) point tie breaker shall be used for all matches.
10.5.1 A single set tied at 6-6 and a doubles set tied at 9-9 shall be decided by a twelve (12) point tie breaker 0
10.5.2 Matches shall be decided by a best two (2) out of three (3).
Section 11 - Miscellaneous - Activity Specific
11.1 Coaches shall supervise their players at all times and demand good sportsmanship and etiquette.
Section 12 - League Tournament
12.1 The league coordinator shall assign the responsibility for directing the league meet.12.1.1 Any profit from the operation of the meet will be retained by the host school. Any loss incurred in the operation of the meet will be the responsibility of the host school.
12.2 The tournament shall be conducted over no more than three (3) days.
12.2.1 Preliminary singles matches will be held on one day.
12.2.2 Preliminary doubles matches will be held on one day.
12.2.3 Finals for singles and doubles will be held either on a third day, or on the same day as the preliminary for doubles.
12.3 Seeding will take place on the morning of each tournament.
12.3.1 Coaches and players must be present and prepared to play to be included in the official draw.
12.3.2 The actual name of the player must be entered, not a school & number.
12.3.3 Seeding shall be done on the basis of CVC League matches. Other matches and rankings shall not be considered.
12.3.4 Seeding shall follow USTA rules.
12.3.5 Players who participated in singles and did not qualify may play doubles the second day. Doubles teams will be seeded by their ability.
12.3.6 Once the draw has been completed no changes will be allowed.
12.4 Coaches and players must arrive prior to the match starting time. A player not ready after fifteen (15) minutes shall default. (see Section 2.2.12).
12.5 No match may start if a coach is not present.
Section 13 - All Conference Selection
13.1 The tennis coordinator shall call a meeting the morning of the doubles tournament to select the All-Conference team.13.1.1 Coaches shall be informed of the meeting, time and location at least a week in advance. Notification shall be by phone or Email.
13.2 The number of nominations and selection of All-Conference team will be determined by the coaches in an open discussion.
13.3 Any player nominated but not selected shall be named “Honorable Mention."
13.4 Total Awards: Twelve (12) - Type of Award: Patch and Certificate
13.5 All conference selections shall be forwarded to the League Commissioner and to the media.
13.6 No all conference team shall be selected below the varsity level.
