SWIMMING

ARTICLE VIII

Section 1 - Starting Date

1.1 The dates for the first day of practice, first scrimmage, first game and last game are determined by the Section.

Section 2 - Official Rules

2.1 The official rule book shall be the National Federation Rules for Swimming and Diving.

Section 3 - Contacts

3.1 The number of contacts allowed is determined by the Section.


Section 4 - Meet Times

4.1 For dual meets During Standard Time - 3:30 During Day Light Saving Time - 4:00


Section 5 - Meet Results

5.1 The winning school shall be responsible to notify the media with meet results.

Section 6 - Change in Classification

6.1 During non-league games a frosh soph swimmer may move from one classification to another. In league play a frosh/soph swimmer may move only to the varsity level.
6.2 Once a frosh/soph swimmer moves to varsity they must remain there for the remaining league dual meets.
6.3 A frosh/soph swimmer may move back to the frosh/soph division for the League Championships and Section Meets .
6.4 An athlete may not participate in more than one classification in one day.

Section 7 - Championship

7.1 Competing schools will earn one (1) point for each school defeated in the dual meets and one (1) point for each team defeated in the league meet. The team with the most points in the league championship meet shall earn one (1) bonus point.
7.1.1The champion shall be the varsity team with the highest point total.
7.1.2 No championship will be recognized below the varsity level.

7.2 Divisions of competition will be:

Boys - Varsity & Frosh/Soph Girls

Varsity & Frosh/Soph


Section 8 - Section Level Competition

8.1 The procedure for qualifying for participation in the post season shall be determined by the Section.

Section 9 - Conduct of dual Meets

9.1 The home team will be responsible for providing a starter acceptable to the visiting team

Section 10 - Conduct of League Meet

10.1 Schools wishing to host the meet will submit a bid to the league representative. The league representative will select the host most capable of producing a quality event. In the event there are multiple bids from qualified schools, the event will be rotated.

10.1.1 The League meet shall be run on the campus of a school belonging to the CVC.

10.1.2 Any profit from the operation of the meet shall belong to and be retained by the host school. Any loss incurred in the operation of the meet shall be the responsibility of the host school.

10.2 A seeding procedure shall be established by the host school. This procedure will conform to the NFHS rule book.

10.2.1 All coaches shall be notified as to the seeding procedure at least two weeks in advance.

10.2.2 All pertinent information about the conduct of the league meet shall be included in this notification in writing, including, place and time for the trial and finals, warm up times, parking, locker facilities, admission prices, and any rules unique to this meet.

10.2.3 There is no limit on the number of entries for individual events. Schools may enter up to two relay teams. If a school has more than four (4) entries they must designate which four (4) entries will be for scoring purposes. All entries submitted will include the first and last name of the competitor, plus any additional information requested by the procedure. The names of the four (4) individuals participating in relay events, and up to four (4) alternates must also be included.

10.3 When the seeding deadline has expired, no additional entries will be accepted.

10.4 Each school shall provide at least three (3) timers and one (1) qualified stroke and turn judge in addition to any other duties assigned by the host school. If participating in diving at least one (1) qualified diving judge must be provided.

10.5 Finals shall include eight(8) consolation finalists and six (6) finalists. Consolation finalist may not score above finalists for points or awards. A relay teams will score as finalists, B relay teams will be in the consolation bracket.

10.6 The host school shall be responsible for transmitting the results of the league meet to the media and league representative.

10.7 The league representative shall maintain and keep current league meet records for the four divisions.

10.7.1 League Meet records may only be established at the League Meet.

10.7.2 A frosh/soph record may be established only by a freshman or a sophomore while competing in frosh/soph competition.

10.7.3 A freshman or sophomore may establish a League Meet Record while competing in varsity competition.

10.7.4 If a freshman or sophomore does set a league meet record while competing in the varsity division the athlete’s coach must notify the league representative within thirty (30) minutes after the announcement of the official time or the record will be negated.


Section 11 - All Conference Selection

11.1 All-conference honors will be awarded to the first two places in each event in varsity competition.

11.2 Type of Awards

All-Conference Patch and certificate

11.3 No athlete shall receive two All Conference awards.

11.4 The host school shall be forward All-conference results to the league commissioner for distribution to the media.

11.5 No all conference team shall be selected below the varsity level.
