ARTICLE IV
Section 1 - Starting Date
1.1 The dates for the first day of practice, first scrimmage, first contest and last contest are determined by the Section.
Section 2 - Official Rules
2.1 The official rule book shall be the United States Golf Association Rule Book.
Section 3 - Official Ball
3.1 The official ball shall be any ball conforming to USGA specifications.
Section 4 - Contacts
4.1 The number of contacts allowed is determined by the Section.
Section 5 - Meet Times
5.1 Starting time for all dual matches shall be 3:15 PM.
5.1.1 Host school to reserve eight starting times for the opposing school.
5.2 Starting time for all league tournaments shall be determined by the course.
5.3 During the month of October matches may start at 3:00 PM.
Section 6 - Meet Results
6.1 The winning school shall be responsible to notify the media with game results.
6.2 The winning school shall be responsible to notify the golf coordinator with complete results. Failure to make notification within 24 hours will result in forfeiture of the match.
Section 7 - Championship
7.1 Each team will consist of six players. The five best scores will count toward the final team score. If a tie exists when the scores of the five players are counted, the sixth player's score will be added. If a tie still exists after the sixth player's scores are added, the match will be declared a tie.
7.2 Teams will earn one (1) point for every dual match win and one (1) point for each team they beat in the league tournaments and one half (1/2) point for a tie. The league championship is awarded to the team finishing the year with the most points.
7.3 In the event of a tie for the most points, a co-championship will be awarded and duplicate awards presented.
7.4 There will be no league standings or championships below the varsity level..
Section 8 - Playoffs
8.1 The teams with the highest number of points in championship play will qualify for the Section Playoffs.
8.2 Team Tie Breakers - If more teams are tied than qualifying berths available at the conclusion of the final league tournament, the following process will be used to determine the qualifiers. The process does not change the standings in any way.8.2.1 First tie breaker: Add the total score of the top five finishers for both league tournaments. The team with the lowest score advances.8.2.2 Second tie breaker: Play a nine hole match on a neutral course, with the winner advancing.
Section 9- Conduct
9.1 Unsportsmanlike Conduct9.1.1 Includes use of profanity, club throwing, possession of any electronic communication device or other unacceptable behavior.9.1.1.1 First offense: 2 stroke penalty9.1.1.2 Second offense (same day): ejection.9.1.2 Cheating or fighting9.1.2.1 Ejection
9.2. Dress code violation, course abuse, slow play, or violation of USGA rules.9.2.1 1st offense - warning9.2.2 2nd offense - 2 stroke penalty9.2.3 3rd offense - disqualification
Section 10 - Dual Matches and League Tournaments
10.1 CVC competition will be for varsity only.
10.2 Boys will be play from the blue or back tees, girls will be play from the red or forward tees. The course may modify which tees are played.
10.3 Dual matches will be nine holes. League tournaments shall be 18 holes. Matches will be scored using a medal play rules.
10.4 Teams shall be checked in and report to the first tee fifteen (15) minutes before starting time.
10.5 Section Team and individual qualifying
10.5.1 Performance Points10.5.1.1 Each of the twelve players (six for each team) are awarded points for competing in a dual match. The best score receives twelve points with the worst receiving one point. Points be averaged and split for those receiving identical scores.10.5.1.2 Each player participating in a league tournament will receive points according to their finish. The best score receives points equal to the total number of players in the tournament. Other scores are awarded in descending order to the lowest score which receives one point. Points will be averaged and split among those with identical scores.10.5.1.3 Points Accrued over the season from dual matches and tournaments will determine qualifiers for the Section Tournament and All Conference designation.10.5.2 The number of teams qualifying to the Section Tournament will be determined by the Section. Teams will qualify according to their total league finish.10.5.3 Individual players, not a member of a qualifying team, shall advance to the Section Tournament as individuals.
10.6 Rained out matches shall be rescheduled as soon as starting times are available.
10.7 If possible cancellations due to inclement weather should be made by the home coach by 12:00 Noon.
10.8 The host coach shall be responsible for explaining any “local rules” prior to the start of each match.
10.9 Disputes and Infractions
10.9.1 Players are to questions an opponent's rule infractions.
10.9.1.1 If there is a dispute, players in the groups shall try to reach a resolution prior to teeing off on the next hole. If a resolution can not be reached, the dispute shall be noted on the scorecard and reported to the coaches for resolution at the end of the match.10.9.1.2 If a ruling is in question, player(s) shall play a second ball for the remainder of that hole. A ruling shall be made at the conclusion of the match by the coaches in accordance with USGA rules.10.9.1.3 A rule infraction must be challenged on the hole the infraction occurred.10.9.1.4 A rule infraction not challenged on the hole the infraction occurred will not be remedied.10.9.2 If the coaches can not agree on the proper ruling, no match results are to be released until a proper ruling can be obtained.10.9.3 In the event the coaches can not reach a resolution, the golf coordinator may make a ruling based upon USGA Rulings or he/she may refer the matter to the league ethics chairperson.
10.10 Scoring
10.10.1 Players are to exchange score cards and keep their opponents score.
10.10.2 Players must announce their score following each hole.
10.10.3 If a score is a disputed, players shall try to reach a resolution before moving to the next hole. If a resolution can not be reached, report both scores and report the dispute to the coaches at the end of the match.
10.10.4 Players shall not sign a disputed score card.
10.11 Spectators must remain 30 yards away from competitors during both dual matches and tournaments. Spectators may not communicate with players.
Section 11 - Dress Code
11.1 Jeans may not be worn.
11.2 Shorts, hemmed at mid thigh are permitted, no cut offs or short shorts.
11.3 All participants must wear a collared shirt. No pictures, offensive language or symbols (other than team logos) are permitted.
11.4 Shirts must be worn at all times and must be tucked in.
11.5 If hats are worn they must be worn properly (forward) and have no offensive language, pictures, slogans or symbols other than a manufacture's or team logo. No gang graffiti or any other modification may be made.
Section 12 - All Conference Selection
12.1 The ten (10) players with the highest number of Performance Points (see Section 10.5) scored during dual meets and league tournaments shall be selected to the all-conference team. The player with the most points shall be named MVP.12.1.1 If a tie exists for MVP coaches shall break the tie with a vote. Coaches are permitted to vote for their own player.12.1.2 If a tie exists for the 10th spot, the player with the best score in the last league tournament will get be awarded final spot.
12.2 Total Awards: Ten (10)
Type of Award: Patch and certificate
12.3 All conference selections shall be forwarded to the league commissioner and to the media for distribution .
12.4 No all conference team shall be selected below the varsity level.
Section 13 - Miscellaneous - Activity Specific
13.1 Golf coaches are to supervise during league matches. Coaches may not play unless they are a part of a group which includes at least two students. If coaches choose not to play, they are to supervise the play on the course.
13.2 All players must take and pass the CVC approved etiquette test before they may compete in a league match.
